Where’s my hammer? I thought, as I sat up, head slightly spinning, and put on my glasses.  I pushed the button on my annoying little clock to shut it up and I went to shower.  When I was done, Adrian and I caught the bus to the school. Once we had arrived, we began our journey across the town of Bodenfelde to the local train station. We started off our trip at 10:00 in the morning and ended at 4:00 P.M.  Talk about a long trip, but an awesome one at that! While floating down the river our eyes fell apon some beautiful birds.  After looking at them for awhile we came to the conclusion that they were cranes.  We would try to be as quiet as possible because we wanted to get a close as we could to them before they flew away.  Sun, 07 Jun 2009 14:33:13 +0100 http://www.igs-bodenfelde.de/en/index.php?section=28&page=114 ShootingOn Monday evening, we went to a local shooting range.  I was expecting an outside, long range, with 22 rifles, etc.  But when we pulled up to a building in the middle of the city, I was surprised.  We proceded up two flights of stairs and into a room where we waited for the others to arrive.  We had something to drink and were given our targets.  There were five pratice targets, a bulls eye target, and a piece of paper with a piece of cheese as a target that had Sun, 07 Jun 2009 14:33:03 +0100 http://www.igs-bodenfelde.de/en/index.php?section=28&page=113 BERLIN TRIP 2007An overview from American eyes Overall, this city was astounding!  We enjoyed being able to see the old buildings and churches that had been bombed in WWII.  The new buildings and the old ruins were built right next to eachother so it was cool to see the contrast.  We also visited the reisstag building; it was so amazing!  All the intricate stone carvings on the outsite and its size was overwhelming.  While we were there it was raining a little, but Sun, 07 Jun 2009 14:32:52 +0100 http://www.igs-bodenfelde.de/en/index.php?section=28&page=112 Goslar (Friday the 8th) Yesterday, we went to Goslar. It was magnificiently rich with medieval history. When we first came into Goslar, we were led into a lively town square complete with a sky scraping church, or kirche as they say in German. We had a “Grill Party” (bbq)! It was so delicious! They torched the coals! It was very surprising. The “Bratwurst” was very big. There were lot`s of salads. Then we had “Pommes” (French fries), the seasoning was really different, but also very good. After that everyone played soccer. All of them are really good! Playing soccer broke the ice! One major food that people eat here that none of us Americans knew are the Döner. We do not have those in America, we´ve all had one! We love them cooked in the oven. They look very different than the real German Pancakes. My host partner, Anna Korrdes, thought they were very good! She was very nice. She tries to speak as much as she can in English. When we arrived home I was met by Leike (the family dog) at first she was a little shy, but now she will come to me when I eat. A little while later I met Johanna (Lukas’s sister) she was very nice but a little shy, too. I met Frank after that, he was pretty nice. I have no problems talking with them. At the airport in Salt Lake City we waited for 2 hours to get our tickets and have our baggage and passports checked. We then flew to Las Vegas the trip took 1 hour. There we ate lunch Pizza and waited for another hour for the plane to Düsseldorf to arrive. On the plane, the flight attendants and pilots spoke both german and English.
